PRIMARY FUNCTION: Under the direction of the supervisor of after school program/special projects plan, implement and deliver sports instruction to students outside of the normal school day.
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Administrator of the area of assignment and/or designee.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
Facilitate athletic activities with groups of students
Plan and supervise games, practices, and events (parent meetings, etc.)
Lead volunteers, or team parents
Demonstrate high ethical standards related to sportsmanship, fair play and relationships with students
Recognition of the need to communicate with parent and appropriate school staff members regarding problems or emergencies which may arise during a sporting event
Coach the young athlete the fundamentals of team sports
Encourage parent involvement in team activities
Schedule and conduct parent meetings and other necessary meetings
Learn and follow all league rules, policies, and procedures (coaches’ code of conduct)
Knowledge of school policies and procedures
Mentor athletes in a variety of learning and life experiences
Ensure environments that are safe, healthy and conducive to student learning.
Communicate with students utilizing language that respectful, professional, and appropriate to the student’s level of understanding
Demonstrate to athletes the manner in which tasks are performed
Prepare activities, equipment and materials prior to arrival of students
Modify activities to maintain student interest and attention
Keep attendance records and additional record keeping and ranking
Attend all league functions and participate in league activities
Attend staff meetings and trainings
Assist in providing First Aid as needed
Perform other related duties as assigned
