Job Title: Pre-K Counts Teacher’s Aide
Location: Aliquippa Elementary School
Reports To: Pre-K Counts Lead Teacher, Elementary School Principal, and Program Director
Position Type: Full-Time; 10-Month School Year
Hourly Rate: $20.00/hour
Position Summary:
The Pre-K Counts Teacher’s Aide supports the delivery of high-quality early childhood education in alignment with Pennsylvania’s Pre-K Counts (PKC) Program standards. Under the direction of the lead teacher, the aide assists in maintaining a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that promotes school readiness for three- and four-year-old children.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom routines aligned to PA Early Learning Standards.
- Support individual and small-group instruction under the guidance of the lead teacher.
- Foster a nurturing, positive classroom environment that supports the social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development of young children.
- Help supervise indoor and outdoor play to ensure safety and promote healthy development.
- Support children with self-help skills including toileting, handwashing, and dressing as needed.
- Assist with classroom preparation, setup, and cleanup, including organizing materials and maintaining a clean learning environment.
- Contribute to ongoing observations and documentation of student progress.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all program and state requirements.
- Engage respectfully with families and collaborate with staff and community partners.
- Participate in required professional development and staff meetings.
- Follow all OCDEL, PA Pre-K Counts, and district guidelines and procedures.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting
- Ability to follow direction and collaborate as part of a teaching team
- Current clearances (Act 34, Act 151, FBI Fingerprinting)
- Mandated Reporter Training Certificate
- TB Test (within the last 12 months)
Preferred:
- CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Experience in a Pre-K Counts or high-quality preschool program
- Familiarity with Creative Curriculum and/or Teaching Strategies GOLD
Work Schedule & Conditions:
- 7.5-hour workday, Monday through Friday (aligned to school calendar)
- Follows district/school holiday and break schedule
- Position may involve lifting children, kneeling, sitting on the floor, frequent movement, and toilet training
