What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Specialist - Senior position at ALINED Consulting, LLC?
Government Purchasing Specialist
- Minimum five years of government purchasing experience, preferably in a government agency procurement role (not strictly contracts).
- Proficiency in requisitions, purchase orders, vouchers, and government pCard (credit card) procedures; proper coding and classification required.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate electronic records.
- Skilled in identifying discrepancies, following established procedures, and understanding purchasing workflows.
- Comfortable working in an ERP system and highly proficient in Excel.
- Experience with high-volume data entry, transaction processing, record maintenance, issuing purchase orders, processing invoices (AP functions), and monthly credit card reconciliation.
- Familiarity with NASPO/Cooperative agreements is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, research ambiguous or incomplete information, use sound judgment, ask relevant questions, and keep processes moving forward without excessive supervision.
The employee MUST be comfortable working with ambiguity and unexpected situations. When information is incomplete or a transaction does not fit an established process, the employee is expected to research the issue, use sound judgement, seek clarification when appropriate and move the work forward without excessive supervision.
Also, from my experience, people who typically work in the contract or SOW space often find the purchasing data entry aspect less engaging. My hope is to target individuals who genuinely enjoy data entry and thrive in that environment. That way, we’ll have someone who is excited about the role’s day-to-day responsibilities."
