Position Overview
The Program Director / Practice Manager is a key leadership role responsible for the overall operational, clinical, and administrative management of our inpatient detox and residential treatment programs. This dual-role position combines program oversight with office management duties to ensure smooth daily operations, regulatory compliance, staff leadership, and exceptional client care in a fast-paced residential environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Program Leadership and Clinical Oversight:
o Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of detox and residential treatment programs, ensuring alignment with evidence-based practices and client needs.
o Develop, update, and enforce program policies, procedures, and treatment protocols in compliance with DHCS licensing, Title 9/22 regulations, and ASAM criteria.
o Supervise clinical and support staff, including counselors, nurses, technicians, and aides; provide training, performance evaluations, and clinical guidance.
o Monitor client progress, treatment plans, and outcomes; facilitate case reviews and ensure timely documentation.
o Coordinate admissions, discharges, and referrals; manage crisis interventions and ensure client safety during detox and residential phases.
· Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance:
o Maintain facility licensure and certification with DHCS; prepare for audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.
o Ensure adherence to health and safety standards, incident reporting, and client rights protections.
o Oversee quality improvement initiatives, including client satisfaction surveys and program effectiveness metrics.
· Office and Administrative Management:
o Manage day-to-day office operations, including scheduling, billing, third-party payer coordination (e.g., Drug Medi-Cal if applicable), and record-keeping.
o Handle human resources functions such as staffing schedules, payroll oversight, recruitment, and onboarding.
o Oversee facility maintenance, supplies inventory, and vendor relationships.
o Manage budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation to support program sustainability.
o Serve as the primary point of contact for community partners, referral sources, and regulatory agencies.
· Team and Community Engagement:
o Foster a positive, recovery-oriented culture among staff and clients.
o Provide on-call support as needed for 24/7 operations.
o Participate in community outreach and partnerships to promote the facility's services.
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor's degree in behavioral health, social work, psychology, addiction studies, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
· Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in substance use disorder treatment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role in a residential or inpatient detox setting. Experience with DHCS-licensed programs strongly preferred.
· Certifications/Licenses: Current California certification as a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) counselor (e.g., CADC, CATC) or licensure (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPCC) preferred. Must meet DHCS requirements for Program Director/Administrator.
· Knowledge and Skills:
· In-depth understanding of addiction treatment, detox protocols, co-occurring disorders, and recovery principles.
· Strong knowledge of California DHCS regulations, HIPAA, and confidentiality standards.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills; ability to multitask in a high-stress environment.
· Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR), Microsoft Office, and basic financial management.
· Valid California driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in both clinical program direction and office administration in a treatment facility.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
· Personal recovery experience (minimum 2 years sobriety if applicable) considered an asset.
