About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our elite aerospace and defense manufacturing team. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with rigorous industry standards (AS9100, ISO9001, and customer-specific requirements) while driving continuous improvement across all quality processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in precision machining, complex assemblies, and hard metals (e.g., titanium, Inconel, stainless steels), with the ability to partner closely with engineering, operations, and customers to maintain world-class quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO9001, and customer requirements.
- Support First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102 and customer specifications.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurrence of quality issues.
- Perform internal audits and support external customer/regulatory audits.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations to develop process controls, inspection plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Review and approve manufacturing documentation, test results, and inspection reports.
- Manage nonconformance reports (NCRs), material review board (MRB) activities, and support disposition decisions.
- Monitor quality performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend improvement initiatives.
- Partner with suppliers to resolve quality issues and ensure incoming materials meet requirements.
- Train and mentor production and inspection staff on quality standards and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 3 years of experience in quality engineering, ideally within aerospace and defense manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO9001, and industry regulations (ITAR, NADCAP a plus).
- Experience with FAI (AS9102), GD&T, and precision machining processes.
- Skilled in using quality tools: root cause analysis, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA, and control plans.
- Proficient with metrology equipment, CMMs, and other precision inspection tools.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required (due to ITAR compliance).
