Position Summary: Prepares and uses chemicals, related products, and equipment, working with chemists and chemical engineers. Performs research, development, testing, and other laboratory work. Assembles and operates new equipment to develop new products, monitors quality, and develops new techniques. Uses principles and theories of science to solve technical problems. Work is more limited in scope and more practically oriented than that of scientists. Conducts standard chemical and physical tests of solid materials, liquids, and gases, and analyzes test data for variety of purposes, such as research, product development, quality control, criminal investigation, and establishing standards. Performs quantitative and qualitative analyses to determine chemical and physical properties of experimental and developmental materials. Sets up equipment and instrumentation required for tests, research, or process control. Tests and analyzes products to determine strength, stability, purity, chemical content, and other characteristics. Tests and analyzes materials and substances, such as ores, minerals, gases, soil, water, and pollutants. Documents results of tests and analyses. May prepare chemical solutions for use in processing materials, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures. May test and analyze radioactive and biological materials, applying knowledge of radiochemical procedures, emission spectrometry, and related techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Rack parts as assigned for Alodine, Anodize, or Hard Metals

Run solvent tests

Alodine parts per customer specifications
-
Anodize parts per customer specifications
-
Run Hard Metals per customer specifications
-
Etch parts for dye per customer specifications
-
Determine when part is properly plated (scaling, rainbow effects, etc.)
-
Run required tests (solution tests, test coupons), daily etch rates
-
Verify part and part quantity to shop router and engineer drawing
-
Track and process job orders daily on the schedule report list
-
Complete quality documentation
-
Maintain a clean and orderly work area

Complete all required training and any additional training required by supervisors

Qualifications:

Experience and Education:
-
3-4 years of relevant experience
-
High school degree or equivalent
-
Technical Skills:
-
Excellent attention to detail
-
Understand chemical mixing and disposal
-
Working knowledge of customer specifications and requirements
-
Basic computer skills
-
Problem solving abilities
-
Ability to use calipers, micrometers, etc.

Mastery of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions)

Strong teamwork and communication skills to get along with co-workers and be a team player

Understand and obey safety requirements

Commitment to keep work area clean and free of debris

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs

Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms for extended periods of time
