Professional Engineer Job Summary
The Senior Professional Electrical Engineer/ Project engineer is a licensed professional who applies technical expertise to design and oversee projects assuring safety, quality, and compliance with standards, while also using creativity to solve design problems and drive solutions for client needs. Senior Professional Engineers will create detailed design drawings using software such as AutoCAD & Revit, or similar programs, and will work closely with and lead other members of the design team to produce accurate, high-quality designs that meet the needs of the project.
Professional Engineer Duties and Responsibilities
- Producing accurate and precise technical drawings using CAD software
- Develop project plans, timelines, specifications, and coordination of team and resources to see project through completion.
- Lead junior engineers/designers in their daily tasks to execute project design objectives
- Mentor junior engineers/designers to assist in their professional development.
- Work with other members of the design team to ensure the accuracy of designs.
- Evaluate existing designs and develop new and improved designs.
- Provide technical support and advice to other members of the design team.
- Troubleshoot design issues.
- Ensure design drawings meet industry standards, internal standards, and specifications, as well as project functionality and efficiency.
- Maintain documentation of designs.
- While standard work hours predominate, project deadlines may necessitate overtime.
- Occasional site visits for data acquisition may also be required.
Professional Engineer Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field from ABET- accredited engineering program
- Successful completion of PE licensure(s) in applicable state(s)
- 5 years’ experience as Professional Engineer in specific trade
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit
- Leadership skills to lead small team of junior engineers and designers
- Working knowledge of engineering design concepts and principles
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize work projects to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Google/Microsoft suite software
