The MEP Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and low-voltage systems across multiple commercial construction projects. This role partners closely with project executives, project managers, superintendents, design teams, and trade partners to ensure all building systems are properly designed, coordinated, installed, commissioned, and delivered in alignment with project schedules, budgets, and quality expectations. The MEP Manager serves as the technical authority for building systems, proactively identifying risk, resolving conflicts, and driving integration from preconstruction through turnover.

Essential Functions And Abilities Required
Lead and manage all MEP systems across multiple active commercial construction projects
Partner with preconstruction teams to review design documents, identify system risks, and develop value engineering strategies
Participate in constructability reviews and ensure coordination of MEP systems with architectural and structural components
Oversee BIM coordination processes, clash detection meetings, and integration of all building systems
Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to align MEP installation with project schedules and sequencing
Review and manage submittals RFIs, shop drawings, and system-related change orders
Provide technical oversight of commissioning processes and ensure systems are tested, balanced, and fully operational
Lead coordination meetings with engineers, consultants and technical challenges
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, energy standards OSHPD/HCAI requirements (when applicable), and local jurisdictional regulations
Assist in turnover documentation, O&M manuals, warranties, and owner training
Ability to travel regularly to project sites throughout San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles
Capable of working in active construction environments, including walking job sites, climbing stairs/ladders, and standing for extended periods of time
Knowledge And Skills
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and low-voltage systems within commercial construction
Familiarity with complex project types including healthcare (OSHPD/HCAI), life sciences, higher education, and technical tenant improvements
Knowledge of commissioning processes, TAB procedures, and building systems start-up
Ability to interpret construction documents, specifications, and engineering drawings
Experience with BIM coordination tools and processes
Interpersonal Skills: ability to engage with clients, consultants, internal team members, and trade contractors in a constructive and solutions-oriented manner
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Procore, and scheduling software (Microsoft Project or Primavera P6)
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
Education / Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
8–15 years of experience in commercial construction with a focus on MEP systems
Experience Working For a General Contractor Strongly Preferred
Experience managing MEP coordination on complex, multi-million-dollar commercial projects
Strong understanding of California building codes and energy requirements
Healthcare (OSHPD/HCAI) Or Life Science Project Experience Preferred
Professional Engineering license or LEED accreditation a plus
