Primary Purpose:
To contribute to the efficient operation of the Central special Education office, by assisting and relieving administrative coordinators of paperwork and impediments so he/she may devote maximum attention to the central focus of educational administration.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school graduate or GED
- Must have an Associate’s Degree or have a minimum of 48 semester hours of higher education coursework or pass a district test
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in computer applications (Office 365, Word, Outlook, Excel) and willingness to learn emerging technologies
- Ability to plan, organize, and schedule work projects while maintaining flexibility
- Able to interpret oral and written instructions from supervisor, complete tasks within timelines and multi-task
- Demonstrate a professional attitude
- Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred
Experience:
- Three (3) years experience in Secretarial, Front Office, (Registration or Attendance Clerk), or SEMS Clerk (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Management
- Transcribe and prepare various types of correspondence, reports, notices, recommendations, etc.
- Obtain, gather, and organize pertinent data as needed and put it into usable form.
- Maintain a regular filing system (paper and electronic), as well as confidential files (if required), and process incoming correspondence as instructed.
- Place, receive and screen telephone calls, and record messages.
- Order and maintain supplies as needed.
- Greet and receive visitors, vendors, etc.
- Collect, sort, and deliver mail.
- Assist in organizing materials and facilities for meetings.
- Prepare correspondence, forms, manuals, reports, presentations, and other documents for the administrator(s) assigned.
Other
- Conduct oneself in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Non-Instructional Paraprofessional Personnel.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching overhead
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district-wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

2024-2025 Salary Range Min. $31,612 Mid. $38,314 Max. $45,014 (Based on previous experience)
2025-2026 Salary schedule with 3% of midpoint increase approved by the Board. Salary schedule soon to be released.
