What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Manager position at Alibi Ale Works?
We are looking for an experienced and passionate General Manager (GM) to join our team and oversee operations for Alibi Ale Works’ Incline Public House. As GM, your primary responsibilities will be exceptional hospitality, maintaining a cohesive team, and strong financial management. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

- Maintaining a positive, safe and inclusive work environment by managing in accordance with Alibi’s policies and standards (e.g. Employee Handbook, SOPs).
- Reviewing financial performance relative to established budgets on a weekly basis and carrying out changes in operations as needed to achieve financial targets.
- Maintaining a strong and cohesive team through intentional recruiting, hiring, and training/onboarding.
- Maintaining accountability, performance and positive team culture through individual performance reviews, coaching and disciplinary action.
- Managing scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing levels and labor efficiency in accordance with business levels.
- Overseeing inventory tracking, purchasing, vendor interaction and deliveries.
- Updating SOPs and daily checklists as needed to maintain a safe, clean working environment.
- Ensuring effective use of our POS system, including updates to product offerings.
- Educating staff and customers on beer and food selections.
- Deepening community ties by creating special events and partnerships.
- Occasionally representing Alibi at outside events.
- Supporting marketing, social media, and business promotion efforts.
- Engaging with customers and soliciting feedback to improve service.
- Coordinating with other members of Alibi’s Management Team and team members at other Alibi locations.
- Maintaining an open mind, flexibility and willingness to adapt to change. We are a dynamic business and we are always evolving.
- Jumping in and helping staff wherever needed, including bartending, food running, bussing, cooking, dishwashing, etc.
- Being onsite during most busy days/periods including weekends and holiday periods.
- Manage onsite private and public events.
- Maintain professional communication with vendors, clients, guests, local partners, and all others through email, phone calls, etc.
- Maintain up to date sales expectations and adjust staffing levels accordingly.
- On call, as needed. Available to come in to work and cover needs, as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years prior experience in food and beverage industry
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with cash handling, developing budgets and managing to those budgets
- Experience hiring, scheduling, training, coaching and disciplining staff
- Exceptional time management skills
- Team-oriented, flexible, and can work independently
- Ability to effectively communicate to guests, owners and co-workers
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand and walk up to 8 hrs at a time
- Must be able to work busy periods and regularly assigned shifts
- Must provide two satisfactory professional references
- Professional appearance and demeanor
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years prior experience in food and beverage management
- Special event management
- Craft beer knowledge and appreciation, extended knowledge of beer a plus (e.g. Cicerone)
- Prior job experience in a brew pub or beer-focused bar
- Takes initiative for personal growth and development in areas of leadership, craft beer, food and hospitality
Employment Status: Exempt, full-time, year-round.
Compensation: Starting salary range $65-80k/yr bonus opportunities. Unlimited PTO. Company-paid health insurance offered after 60 days of employment.
- The selected candidate may be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check. Must have Alcohol Serving Certification and ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Salary : $65,000 - $80,000
