Role Description The Controller is a full-time, on-site role based at Alhambra Hospital Medical Center in Alhambra, CA. This role oversees the hospital’s accounting and financial operations, including general ledger management, monthly and year-end close, financial statement preparation, and variance analysis. The Controller manages budgeting and forecasting processes, monitors cash flow, and ensures timely, accurate reporting to senior leadership and external stakeholders. Daily responsibilities include supervising accounting staff, reviewing reconciliations, maintaining internal controls, and ensuring compliance with healthcare financial regulations, GAAP, and hospital policies. The role also collaborates with department leaders to interpret financial results, support operational decision-making, assist with audits, and recommend process improvements that enhance financial performance and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Strong accounting and finance skills, including GAAP knowledge, general ledger management, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and cost control in a healthcare or hospital environment.
- Proficiency with financial systems and tools, such as ERP or hospital financial software, spreadsheets, and data analysis applications.
- Ability to design, implement, and monitor internal controls, and ensure compliance with regulatory, tax, and audit requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including mentoring, performance management, and team development.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy under deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
- Previous experience as a Controller or senior accounting/finance leader in a hospital or healthcare setting is highly desirable.
