IT Business Relationship Management Associate
Location: On-site at NYC Headquarters
As a Business Relationship Manager/Director, you will be responsible for representing the IT department to the business for a portfolio of IT applications used throughout the organization. This includes knowing the user base and understanding the issues facing the business department(s) who utilize IT’s product(s), creating/updating product management deliverables (support models, roadmaps, training strategy, product reviews), managing 2nd level application support, application training, product administration and 3rd party vendors that support the product(s). In addition, you will be responsible for project related tasks and/or deliverables for projects that impact the supported product(s).
This role requires you to be able to communicate with all areas of the company and establish a strong relationship with stakeholders, vendors, and IT shared services to find innovative solutions that are aligned with the organization’s short-term and long-term objectives. You will work with the business and IT to define application objectives, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target use cases of the application. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering, often working or embedding yourself with the business to better understand their true needs. You will manage the resolution of production support related issues and partner with Product stakeholders to ensure tickets are updated and issues are worked as quickly as possible. You will work with project management, business analysts and technical counterparts to define product release requirements. You will also serve as the liaison to your vendors, establishing a business relationship with their customer success, support, and product management teams.
Job Function:
Management
- Own the relationship between the IT department and business stakeholders.
- Serve as the intersection between business, technology, and user experience.
- Act as the voice of IT within the business and be passionate about the delivering a high-quality user experience.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with lines of business and ensure communication is customer focused and professional.
- Cultivate relationships with all areas of IT and drive for innovative solutions to complex business challenges.
- Manage vendor relationships and contribute enhancement requests to their roadmap.
- Stay informed on the vendors market position, product roadmap, the vendors competitors and potential partner relationships for the product.
- Serve as 1st and 2nd Level Support for applications and work with various support teams to resolve issues.
- Create and maintain key deliverables associated with all products i.e., support models, roadmaps, etc.
- Build process documentation and support guides for all applications within the assigned portfolio.
- Manage the creation of and/or create training material and provide training to end users as needed.
- Understand the technology stack and most importantly understand the level of effort involved to support and enhance the product. Proactively inquire and ask questions with both IT team members and business stakeholders when questions surface.
- Evaluate the tradeoffs between features and maintainability to avoid feature creep and high maintenance burdens.
- Define high-quality and comprehensive product requirements to ensure that they are a good fit for the customer use case and are technically achievable by the IT department.
- Provide constructive feedback to technical staff and project management teams during all phases of the software lifecycle to help keep development priorities aligned with business and IT teams needs.
- Manage customer expectations so that the business and technical staff share the same goals and timeline.
- Assess the measurable business value of customer requests to prioritize work and ensure that benefits justify costs.
- Serve as key on-site IT liaison and champion for modernization efforts (including documentation and project planning) for replacement / migration off existing legacy or outdated applications as related to financial applications, scheduling, and other production applications.
Technology
- You will partner with strategy, functional, technical, and UX experts to architect, design, and lead application/business workflow implementations that address the key needs of business teams and their workforces.
- Design, Development and Implementation of products that improve business processes and enhance the IT experience.
- Working with a team of both functional and technical through requirements gathering and sprint design sessions for business applications.
- Managing the configuration of the application, engage stakeholders to conduct reviews through joint design sessions.
- Configure and enhance the application, including, but not limited to, Management, Integrations, and Reporting.
- Design technical solutions and implementations of strategic technologies.
- Collaborate with network, system, and application Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Collaborate with key business partners and stakeholders to build out a mature asset lifecycle management function with processes and workflows that align with industry standards and best practices.
- Implement integrations, 3rd party solutions, and internally developed applications.
- Work closely with stakeholders to develop clear, concise, and accurate documentation such as user requirements, workflow and use case diagrams, user acceptance criteria.
- Contribute to internal and end-user documentation that relates to your work.
- Load, manipulate, and maintain data between business applications and other systems.
- Support the development and growth of the services delivered by the organization.
- Basic understanding and ability to script automated processes. Agile Scrum methodology Experience.
- Hands-on experience integrating applications with external systems.
Required Qualifications:
- 10 years of previous relationship management and software development experience in an enterprise and/or technical industry.
- 5 years of previous project management experience in an enterprise and/or technical industry
- Extensive analytical, written, and organizational skills along with strong ability to perform detail-oriented work.
- Advanced experience with enterprise tools and business suites – including hands-on experience working within the tool, configuring modules, and possess the ability to teach others how to use the tool efficiently.
- Experience managing all stages of the product life cycle.
- Knowledge of IT Software Development Life Cycle: Initiation, Planning, Design, Development, Implementation, Maintenance, Retire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications a plus, such as Project Management (PMP) or Certified Business Relationship Manager® (CBRM®)
- BS/BA degree preferred
