GENERAL DESCRIPTION (1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE):

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join ARHS as a part-time teacher in the Applied Arts and Technology department. As part of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing curriculum for three classes per semester, including Hands-on Engineering and Wood Technology. 

 

The start date for this position is approximately January 26, 2026.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum Bachelors degree in Engineering or field related to technology, construction, etc.
  • DESE Teaching license: Technology/Engineering
  • Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use technology effectively

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (NOT LIMITED TO):


  • Develop and update curriculum for the following classes:  Hands-on Engineering, Robotics/Makerspace, Construction Tech, and Wood Technology
  • Comfortable working in a wood technology lab and other classroom environments
  • Be able to keep work environment clean and safe for students
  • Be able to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with parents and students.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives
  • Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis providing appropriate feedback
  • Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of the building Principal or designee.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of behavior in the classroom and throughout the school to achieve a positive and functional learning atmosphere for students. 
  • Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares student progress reports, and provides accurate and constructive feedback to students and parents. (as necessary). 
  • Uses data to improve the learning and instruction process. 
  • Cooperates with other professional staff members to identify student needs and develop assessments to solve health, attitude and learning problems. 
  • Creates an effective learning environment.
  • Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day. 
  • Participates in faculty committees, meetings and other faculty sponsored programs supporting the educational program. 
  • Maintains professional competence through District sponsored in-service programs and approved professional development activities. 
  • Demonstrates regular and timely attendance. 
  • Is able to speak and write in a clear, concise manner. 
  • Consistent and on-time attendance is required for supervision and instruction of the students
  • Other duties as needed

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Work Environment:  

Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day, however there may be occasions for after school meetings. 


Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear.  The teacher is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel.  The teacher is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.  Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building.
