Senior HPC Storage Engineer
A globally successful systematic high-frequency trading firm with the top engineering culture and strong ML infrastructure, in NYC looking to grow their storage infrastructure team; looking for a Senior Storage Architect to join their team. They pay top of the market on compensation packages, and have flexible work arrangements (3 days in office) based in NYC. In this role, you will:
Lead the architecture and design of high-performance storage systems, integrating with ML/HPC infrastructure. You'll own the storage infrastructure roadmap and work with top engineers to deliver ultra-low latency solutions critical for HFT operations. Collaborate with research teams to architect scalable solutions enabling breakthrough trading strategies.
Core Responsibilities:
- Drive the strategic vision and implementation of cutting-edge storage solutions across the organization
- Lead cross-functional engineering initiatives and foster collaboration between teams
- Design and optimize storage solutions based on deep workload analysis and user requirements
- Develop comprehensive long-term storage strategy, including five and ten-year technology roadmaps
- Leverage industry expertise to make strategic infrastructure decisions and recommendations
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to engineering teams
- Resolve complex technical challenges across storage, operating systems, and networking domains
- Ensure seamless integration between storage systems and HPC infrastructure
- Participate in critical incident response rotation to maintain 24/7 operational excellence
Required Qualifications:
- Years of experience architecting multi-petabyte storage solutions in high-performance computing environments
- Proven track record in developing sophisticated storage software solutions and leading technical teams
- Expert-level knowledge of HPC and enterprise-scale storage architectures
- Extensive experience with distributed file systems (Lustre, GPFS, WEKA, S3, CEPH, etc.)
- Outstanding communication skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Deep technical expertise in commodity storage technologies and industry trends
- Comprehensive understanding of server architecture, emphasizing performance optimization
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems under tight deadlines
- Excellence in both independent and collaborative work environments
- Strong programming skills in Python and UNIX/Linux environments
