Build What’s Next with Algas-SDI

At Algas-SDI, we design and manufacture innovative propane vaporization and energy solutions used around the world. For more than 90 years, we have built a reputation for quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and results-driven Buyer to support procurement activities across our product lines, with a focus on complex and high-value components. In this role, you will work closely with Planning, Production, Engineering, and suppliers to ensure materials are purchased strategically, costs are managed effectively, and production schedules remain on track.

This position plays an important role in supporting manufacturing operations, strengthening supplier relationships, and improving supply chain performance. If you enjoy problem-solving, negotiating, building strong partnerships, and making a direct impact on production success, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.

What You’ll Do
  • Support sourcing activities and Requests for Quotation (RFQs) for projects, new products, and engineering changes.
  • Evaluate supplier pricing, capabilities, lead times, and terms to support purchasing decisions.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other supplier agreements as needed.
  • Review purchasing requirements and place purchase orders based on system-generated buy signals and business needs.
  • Maintain accurate purchase order data, supplier information, pricing, and delivery visibility within ERP systems.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and supplier commitments to support material availability and prevent production delays.
  • Collaborate with Planners, Production, and Engineering to prioritize purchasing activities and resolve material shortages or supply chain constraints.
  • Assist with supplier non-conformances, material discrepancies, invoice issues, and purchasing-related concerns.
  • Maintain purchasing records and component documentation, including Material Test Reports (MTRs), Certificates of Conformance (CoCs), and other applicable quality or compliance records.
  • Contribute to strategic stocking plans, inventory management initiatives, and vendor agreements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, supplier performance, cost management, and material availability.
  • Build and maintain effective supplier relationships to support quality, cost, delivery, and long-term supply chain objectives.
  • Support cross-functional projects and product lifecycle activities to ensure purchasing requirements are addressed.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles and purchasing best practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Perform other purchasing and operational duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, materials management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing best practices, procurement processes, and supplier management.
  • Proficiency with ERP and MRP systems, including purchasing, inventory, and production control functions.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to evaluate supplier pricing, terms, and delivery commitments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across departments and with external suppliers.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement practical solutions.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, purchasing requirements, and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and their application to procurement, inventory, and production operations.
  • Experience using quality management systems (QMS) and other production control systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Planning, Production, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and external suppliers.
  • High level of accountability, initiative, attention to detail, and results orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with global suppliers and international procurement activities.
  • Experience sourcing complex, technical, or high-value manufacturing components.
  • Experience supporting engineering changes, new product introductions, or project-based purchasing.
  • Experience with supplier performance improvement, strategic sourcing, vendor agreements, or inventory optimization.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing documentation and quality requirements, including MTRs and CoCs.
