Duties
- Operate, set up, and adjust press brake machines to produce accurate bends according to technical drawings and blueprints
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and shop math to determine proper tooling and machine settings
- Measure finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure quality standards are met
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols during machine operation
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on press brake equipment to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with team members on fabrication tasks involving sheet metal, forming machines, and other metalworking tools
- Document production activities, inspection results, and any machine adjustments or issues encountered during shifts
Skills
- Proficiency in operating press brake machines along with familiarity with programming for automated bending processes
- Strong mechanical knowledge including setup and operation of forming machines, milling machines, lathes, laser cutting, waterjet, and welding techniques
- Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately and apply blueprint reading skills in fabrication tasks
- Skilled in measuring and inspecting parts using calipers, micrometers, micrometer gauges, and other precision measurement tools for quality control
- Knowledge of shop math principles necessary for machining calculations and measurement conversions
- Understanding of safety standards in manufacturing environments including proper use of hand tools, tooling setups, crane operation, and safety protocol adherence
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes such as forming, stamping, plasma cutting, CNC machining, and assembly operations
- Mechanical aptitude combined with problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining high standards of safety and quality
