Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Plan and conduct engaging lessons that cater to diverse student abilities and interests, ensuring all students are included and motivated.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents regarding their physical development and participation.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, including sports teams, fitness clubs, and wellness events.
- Collaborate with other educators to integrate physical education concepts into the broader school curriculum.
- Maintain a safe and positive learning environment, ensuring all equipment and facilities are used properly and safely.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in physical education and health education.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a supportive school community.
- Uphold school policies and procedures, including discipline and attendance requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education for middle school levels.
- Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Experience working with middle school-aged children in an educational setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and engage with the school community.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among students.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained within the first year of employment.
