What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Basic Education Teacher position at Alexandria Public Schools?

Alexandria Area Adult Basic Education (ABE) is currently seeking a a teacher. This is a rewarding teaching position, working with adult learners (age 17 or older, no longer enrolled in high school) in the academic areas of GED, Adult High School Diploma, English as a Second Language, Digital Literacy and Basic Skills instruction in the areas of reading, writing and math.
Training and prep time are paid. Prior experience with adult literacy or certification in Adult Education and/or ESL preferred, but not required.
- 9-month or 12-month flexible position
- 4-15 hrs. week
- Late AM to early PM
- Teaching Licensure Required
Qualifications:
Experience working with multicultural populations and English language learners is preferred, but not required.
Minnesota Teaching License is required.
Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction.
Strong classroom management skills.
Ability to build successful relationships with students and staff.
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams.
