Die Corrector - C Shift (Thursday, 12:30pm-6:30pm Friday-Sunday, 6:30am-6:30pm)

This position is responsible for maintaining, correcting, and improving extrusion dies used for aluminum extrusion. By analyzing trends, this position is able to provide exceptional service to the extrusion press teams to ensure close tolerance extrusions meet customer specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished.

• Ensure that safety is always the number one priority at Alexandria Industries; promote and support a safe work environment and safety oriented culture by following all safety programs and guidelines
• Research and/or analyze trends, temperature data, etc. prior to making a correction on a die stack
• Prepare and correct dies as needed for the extrusion process; knowing types of bolsters, backers, feeder plates, etc.
• Learn and develop a strong understanding of the importance of temperature as it relates to the extrusion process and tooling
• Provide internal customer service to all areas of the facility for extrusion related questions
• Collaboratively make decisions with Die Shop Supervisor to determine if dies should be returned to die vendors for correction
• Work with other departments in understanding extrusion and die problems
• Order dies and backup tools based on customer requirements
• Work with die vendors on designing and correction of dies
• Process necessary paperwork required for completing Manufacturing orders
• Keep work area clean and orderly using 5S (standardize, sustain, sort, set in order and shine)
• Continuously cross-train within the Die Shop to grow and develop skills
• Conduct all processes and procedures in accordance with department key measures
• Ensure all quality practices are being followed accurately and efficiently
• Communicate Alexandria Industries’ requirements and capabilities with vendors and customers
• Read and analyze customer blueprint specifications to understand product requirements
• Use necessary measurement equipment to ensure that parts extruded meet customer specifications; maintain proper and accurate test results records

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education:
   • High school diploma or equivalent degree
   • Associates degree in Machine Tool Technology or related program preferred
2. Experience:
   • 1 years of blueprint reading and die correction experience preferred
3. Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
   • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
   • Recognize and take action on safety concerns
   • Utilize the proper inspection equipment per designated area
   • A highly motivated self-starter
   • Interpret blueprints, die drawings, inspect parts and surface finish according to customer specifications
   • Good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
   • Effectively work in a team environment
   • Participate in additional training or education as needed
   • Perform and assist with preventive maintenance
   • Strong communication skills, problem solver, multi-tasker
   • Properly identify key die & tooling components

Starting base pay: $27-$31/hour
