Administrative Assistant (McKinney Vento - Casual)

Job Description:

The (McKinney-Vento) Administrative Assistant supports the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) McKinney-Vento Liaison in ensuring that students experiencing homelessness are identified, enrolled, and provided equal access to educational opportunities and support services.

The Admin Assistant helps to maintain documentation in accordance with federal, state and local requirements, makes purchases and completes Purchase Card reconciliation, and assists with support and communication between schools, families, and community partners. The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act is a federal law that guarantees educational rights and protections for children and youth experiencing homelessness. The Act ensures that students who lack fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence can enroll and attend school without barriers, receive transportation to their school of origin when feasible, and access academic and support services that promote school stability and success.

This Casual position will work close to 12-16 hours per week.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

• Certificates & Licenses: None required.

• Experience: Job related experience is required.

Additional responsibilities may include:

• Data entry on platforms like PowerSchool
• Monthly P-Card reconciliation for MV team purchases and other expenses
• Creating accounts/scheduling transportation for students as needed
• Maintaining spreadsheets for items provided to students
• Posting resources and announcements on ParentSquare
• Mailing letters to students and families notifying them of their rights under the Act
• Submitting referrals to community partners
• Assisting with holiday, school supply and basic needs drives for students and families

• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
• Tuberculosis Skin Test

Public Health Compliance

• Must follow safety and health protocols.
