What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Development Associate, RTW position at Alexander Wang LLC?
Summary: Reporting to the Sr. Director, PD RTW, the Product Development Associate helps oversee the development process from concept to finished samples. They will report to the Product Development Manager of RTW and will support the pd team in various day-to-day activities. The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented individual with great communication and project coordination skills. They will partner with the atelier, tech design, design, production and merchandising teams to ensure collection objectives are met.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Track and receive all seasonal development packages from overseas. Alert development team to the status of when packages are expected to be delivered.
• Review all proto and SMS tech packs to ensure all correct information is entered such as specs, material, trims and finishing details.
• Assist in sending out materials for overseas developments, such as fabric, trims, reference samples, and create shipping packing slips.
• Help QC all OOH development for both proto and SMS.
• Request and track all press samples post presentation/market.
• Assist with setting up new styles in RLM and maintain updated information throughout the season. This includes style number, sketch, style descriptions, BOM.
• Attend tech pack pass offs between design and atelier to ensure all information is communicated accurately.
• Oversee the compiling of all patterns and CMs to be passed off to the Production team.
• Maintain development submits and library. Keep all binders and file cabinets organized.
• Assist in gathering standards for binder pass off.
• Support PD Managers to communicate collection techniques to production team to educate them on unique details and garment requirements.
• Support PD Managers with testing for fabrics, trims, garments, fusible, etc. for production viability.
• Support in launching trials for development techniques / concepts: quilting, printing, garment washing, as needed each season. Initiate communication with domestic vendors, give direction on the next step of trials, and monitor status updates.
• Market prep (labeling SMS, final follow up on pattern digitizing, checking for hanger loops & main labels).
• Commute to midtown for purchasing materials and transporting samples with domestic factories.
• Collect costing information, for both proto and SMS, and help make callouts when necessary.
• Work with various local vendors / contractors and make cost callouts when needed.
• Participate in cross functional meetings with PD, Production, Design and Merchandising to review seasonal collections; assist with note taking.
• Assist with atelier needs when needed.
Position Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree
• At least 2-3 years prior experience in RTW fashion, luxury preferred
• Time management skills
• Strong follow up capability and must be an effective communicator
• Flexible, organized and detail oriented
• Experience with problem solving and troubleshooting
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced work environment
• Experience working with local and overseas factories as well as in-house atelier
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
• Proficient in RLM or similar programs

In compliance with the New York City salary transparency requirements, the potential salary for this position is from $70,000 to $75,000, which represents a range commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills required.
