Teaching Position Summary
The 8th Grade Math Teacher will be responsible for attending and actively participating in weekly virtual community meetings with students in grades 6–8. They will also plan, facilitate, and assess lessons for two sections of 15 eighth-grade students each. In addition, the teacher will attend monthly evening staff meetings focused on asset-based discussions to collaboratively support student success.
Teachers will work with the Director and Assistant Director of Middle School Programs, other teachers, and the ATA staff to create a welcoming, academically challenging, and engaging environment for all students in the program.
Virtual Staff Orientation: To be scheduled with the Director of Middle School Programs and Assistant Director of Middle School Programs once the position is offered.
Program Dates: February 2nd, 2026, to June 3rd, 2026.
Location: Virtual via Zoom on Tuesday from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Responsibilities
- Attend Community Meeting and support small group discussions.
- Lead two sections of an 8th-grade math class of approximately 15 students each on Tuesday evening.
- Host virtual office hours after teaching on Tuesday evenings from 7:50 pm to 8:30 pm.
- Internalize weekly prepared lesson plans, revise them to meet the needs of your students, and create corresponding materials as necessary.
- Post all materials to Google Classroom and provide students with feedback
- Maintain the gradebook, which is shared with the Director and the Assistant Director
- Keep families updated about student progress
- Attend and support three in-person ATA-sponsored Saturday Events
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 2 years of teaching experience (preferred grade level experience: 6th-12th)
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including classroom management and team building skills
- Experience implementing differentiated teaching strategies
