IT Operations Engineer – Tier 3
Location: 100% Remote
Schedule: Friday–Tuesday | 11:00 PM–8:00 AM
Compensation: $50–$60/hr
We're partnering with an organization looking to add an experienced IT Operations Engineer to provide overnight Tier 3 support across its network, server, and virtualization environment. This is a hands-on infrastructure role supporting a highly visible, mission-critical operation where uptime, communication, and quick problem resolution are essential.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a well-rounded background across network and systems administration who enjoys troubleshooting complex issues and is comfortable independently managing an overnight environment.
What You'll Do
Monitor network circuits and coordinate with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve service issues.
Troubleshoot Layer 1 and Layer 2 network issues using Cisco CLI.
Support wireless infrastructure and troubleshoot access point and connectivity issues.
Administer and maintain Windows Server environments.
Manage server patching and security updates using WSUS.
Perform vulnerability remediation across servers and network devices.
Manage virtual machines through VMware vCenter.
Perform and verify backups using Rubrik or similar enterprise backup platforms.
Monitor infrastructure health, availability, and alerts using SolarWinds.
Perform Active Directory administration and troubleshooting.
Manage multiple concurrent infrastructure issues and prioritize based on business impact.
Provide detailed shift handoffs and clearly communicate issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
What We're Looking For
Strong Tier 3 infrastructure support experience across both networking and systems.
Hands-on Cisco networking experience, including CLI and Layer 1/Layer 2 troubleshooting.
Strong Windows Server administration and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with VMware vCenter and virtual machine management.
Experience with Active Directory and WSUS.
Understanding of vulnerability remediation, patching, and infrastructure security.
Experience with SolarWinds or similar infrastructure monitoring tools.
Experience with enterprise backup solutions; Rubrik is a plus.
Strong communication, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities during an overnight shift.
Must be available for the Friday–Tuesday, 11 PM–8 AM schedule, including holiday coverage when required.
CompTIA A , Network , CCNA, or similar certifications are a plus but not required.
