Role Description This full-time, on-site Physician Assistant role is based in Palm Harbor, FL. The Physician Assistant will support orthopedic surgeons in clinic and surgical settings, including taking patient histories, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and assisting in procedures. Daily responsibilities include managing patient follow-up visits, providing pre- and post-operative education, coordinating care plans, and documenting encounters in the electronic medical record. The role also involves collaborating closely with physicians, nursing staff, and other team members to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality, patient-centered care. The Physician Assistant will participate in ongoing quality improvement efforts and may contribute to patient education materials and protocols.
Qualifications
- Current Physician Assistant license (or eligibility) in the state of Florida and graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Board certification or board eligibility as a Physician Assistant and current BLS/ACLS certification.
- Prior experience in orthopedics, musculoskeletal care, or a related surgical specialty is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in patient assessment, diagnosis, and development of evidence-based treatment plans.
- Proficiency in assisting with orthopedic procedures, wound care, casting/splinting, and post-operative management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex medical information in a clear, empathetic manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple clinical responsibilities.
- Comfort with electronic medical records and basic healthcare-related technologies.
