Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly while providing excellent customer service at the front desk
- Schedule patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Private insurance ensuring accurate billing and claims processing
- Manage phone systems with multi-line capabilities, answering inquiries professionally and routing calls appropriately
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for health information management
- Assist with medical administrative support tasks such as filing, data entry, and updating patient information in EMR systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix
Skills
- Proven experience in a medical office setting
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software
- Exceptional phone etiquette with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and insurance verification processes
