Job Description

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

Responsible for and directing team members to successfully install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain low voltage systems including wiring and equipment using hand and power tools.

· Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI), American National Standards Institute (ANSI) cabling standards.

· Knowledge of working with various cables that include but not limited to: fiber optics, twisted pair, coax, CAT-5, CAT-6, SM & MM fiber optic cables.

· Ability for climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing ladders, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.

· Ability to lead, train, mentor, make corrections, teach, and supervise others in a working environment.

· Skilled at developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.

· Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs at various heights to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

· Skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other implementation of technology on the jobsite.

· Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as digging trenches, and moving and lifting heavy objects up to 50lbs.

· Ability to properly wear Personal Protective Equipment properly such as hardhats, boots, eye protection, and gloves.

· Knowledge of basic hand tools and power tools common to the low voltage electrical trade.

· Ability to operate and control (2) handed tools/equipment such as but not limited to cable cutters, compression tools, and other power tools.

· Ability to stay on their feet continuously for a 10-hour day excluding lunch.

· Ability to distinguishing all colors of a color spectrum chart.

· Ability to travel to projects outside of the company’s home base area to perform electrical installation. Length of assignment based on project duration and may require overnight stay.

· Ability to read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, electrical schematics, blueprints, project specifications and other written instructions.

· Strong knowledge of the current National Electrical Code and skilled at interpreting and following the information contained.

· Ability to work independently in challenging environments while meeting demanding timelines.

· Ability to enter and utilize portable sanitary facilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Maintains compliance with all OSHA, company safety policy, customer safety requirements, and company policies.

· Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots data equipment including data racks, patch panels, cable trays in compliance with the NEC, BICSI, and ANSI standards.

· Installs and troubleshoots various cables that include but not limited to: fiber optics, twisted pair, coax, CAT-5, CAT-6, SM & MM fiber optic cables.

· Label, pull and terminate cable.

· Test all installed cable using appropriate testing equipment.

· Document all information on all cable and equipment.

· Installation of voice lines to various types of phone equipment.

· Conducts field training and second-level problem evaluation.

· Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and ordering materials or tools from the project supervisor for his/her area of responsibility.

· Must provide guidance and direction to subordinates including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.

· Immediately identify, correct, and/or report any unsafe acts, conditions or incidents.

· Performs wire and cable pulls.

· Cleans and maintains jobsite, tools, and vehicles.

· Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

· Performing work at various heights.

· Exposed to weather conditions depending on the location and time of year.

· Exposed to trenches, confined spaces, and restricted movement areas.

· Performing work on uneven terrain, unfinished building structures, and general construction areas.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Repetitive motion of shoulders, arm, hands, wrists, and fingers.

· Lifting and maneuvering heavy objects up to 50lbs.

· Standing for long periods of time without sitting.

· Exposed repetitive walking, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling squatting, climbing, kneeling, reaching over the head and twisting.

POSITION TYPE

· Full-Time (40 hours)

· Hourly

· Normal days and hours of work are 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday, with a (30) minute lunch. In order to meet work requirements, the normal work schedule may be modified.

TRAVEL

· Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected depending on the project.

EDUCATION

· Must possess a high school diploma or GED.

· BICSI certification is preferred.

· Must maintain current OSHA 10-hour training, CPR, and First-Aid certificates.

· 2 years of low voltage On-The-Job-Training experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 - $25.00 per hour
