What are the responsibilities and job description for the Private Equity Associate, Direct Investments position at Alexander Chapman?
We are working with a leading lower middle market investment firm seeking a Private Equity Associate to join their investment team in New York.
This is an opportunity to join a lean, entrepreneurial investment team with significant exposure across the full investment lifecycle; including sourcing, evaluating, underwriting, executing transactions, and supporting portfolio company initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience from private equity, investment banking, an independent sponsor, or a direct investing environment. Candidates with experience evaluating co-investments, sponsor-backed opportunities, or lower middle market transactions will be especially compelling.
Key Responsibilities:
• Evaluate new investment opportunities and conduct market research
• Build detailed financial models and investment analyses
• Support due diligence processes and transaction execution
• Prepare investment committee materials and investment memos
• Work closely with senior team members across sourcing, underwriting, and portfolio initiatives
Ideal Background:
• 2-3 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or direct investing
• Strong financial modeling and transaction execution skills
• Experience with co-investments, independent sponsor transactions, or direct investments is highly valued
• Exposure to lower middle market businesses and founder-owned companies is a plus
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a lean investment environment
