A well-established civil engineering firm in Virginia is seeking an experienced Land Development Project Manager to lead and oversee site development projects across commercial, residential, and municipal sectors. This role provides the opportunity to manage multidisciplinary teams, drive project delivery, and interact directly with clients and regulatory agencies.
About the Role
The Project Manager will oversee all phases of land development projects, from conceptual design through permitting and construction. This includes coordinating internal design teams, managing budgets and schedules, reviewing technical work, and ensuring quality and regulatory compliance. The role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage land development projects, including commercial, residential, and municipal sites
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, scopes, and deliverables
- Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, clients, and regulatory agencies
- Review and approve site designs, grading, drainage, utility, and stormwater plans
- Conduct quality control on project deliverables and technical reports
- Support permitting, construction administration, and client communications
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and project staff
Qualifications
- 8–15 years of land development or civil engineering project management experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Strong understanding of Virginia site development regulations and permitting processes
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with site design software (e.g., Civil 3D) and project management tools
Preferred Skills
- Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams
- Knowledge of stormwater modeling and drainage design
- Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality standards
