Aletheia House is looking for community wellness specialists to provide substance abuse prevention services to young adult men and women who are enrolled in Historically Black
College and University (HBCU) and who live in the areas of Birmingham,
AL. The areas served are Jefferson counties.
Location of Position
0526-A Birmingham, AL (Miles College) – Jefferson County
Position Summary:
The community wellness specialist provides substance abuse prevention services to young adult men and women who are enrolled in Historically Black College and University (HBCU).
The community wellness specialist will engage in environmental and educational strategies and will also address availability and accessibility of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in the targeted community. The community wellness specialist works closely with the community wellness coordinator and chief operating officer to accomplish the mission and service goals of Aletheia
House.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Implement substance abuse prevention interventions for young adult men and enroll in
Historically Black College and University (HBCU)
-Document all services in a timely complete and clinically appropriate manner
-Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings as directed
-Perform other duties as assigned by the community wellness coordinator, chief operating officer, and/or executive director.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Excellent writing, communication, organizational and time management skills with knowledge of
English grammar, spelling and punctuation
-Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
-Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with program participants and resource providers.
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
-Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships with other employees
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in Social Services required
-Prior experience in substance abuse treatment/prevention a plus
-Good driving record required
-Motor Vehicle Report required
Travel:
-Some local travel required (Daily)
-Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation
-Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included
Job Salary:
$37,500.00
Hours:
F/T, Exempt, Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (may require some evenings and weekends depending on program) - 40 hours per week
