This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, managing billing and receivables processes, supporting month-end and year-end close activities, and ensuring the integrity of the firm’s financial records and reporting. Core Finance & Accounting Operations
- Lead and execute the month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and enter general ledger and payroll journal entries
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
- Oversee general ledger integrity and financial data coding according to Firm procedures
- Review and oversee the accurate recording of financial transactions
- Maintain organized, accurate, and audit-ready financial records
- Prepare fixed asset and contribution worksheets for year-end reporting
- Coordinate and prepare information for external accounting firm and auditors
- Assist with tax preparation, audits, and resolving accounting discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with documentation standards, including receipts, supporting details, and W-9 requirements
- Oversee firm billing operations, including: client intake & set up, processing monthly billing, maintaining fee agreements, processing rate increases and changes, generating billing reports for attorneys.
- Support and improve the billing process to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Manage accounts receivable activities including: tracking receivables, collection coordination, cash application, aging analysis
- Oversee accounts payable processing to ensure timely and accurate payment of obligations
- Oversee billing system administration and user maintenance
- Compile, analyze, forecast, and report month-end, year-end and other financial data as needed
- Assist with budget preparation, budget tracking, variance analysis, and forecasting
- Create and maintain financial budgeting and forecasting models
- Compile and analyze firm statistical and operational data
- Reconcile and recommend resolution for financial reporting discrepancies and issues
- Support payroll-related forecasting and analysis
- Maintain partner accounting, including business expenses, draws, insurance, 401(k), and interest allocations
- Support payroll processing, reporting, reconciliations, and related accounting activities
- Identify process gaps and implement practical improvements across accounting and finance operations
- Serve as a liaison between accounting and internal departments, attorneys, clients, vendors, suppliers, and external partners
- Assist in strengthening internal controls, workflows, and operational consistency
- Perform various other duties as needed to support the finance function
Salary : $120,000 - $165,000
