Position Summary:
The Sentry post secures an assigned account in a location which may or may not be in a gated community.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Controlling vehicular and pedestrian access to client site or facility by following authorized admittance
processes and enforcing regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and
premises
• Monitoring close circuit cameras for suspicious activity, unauthorized entry, and access point malfunctions
• Monitoring entrances and exits, the movement of people and vehicles and parking, and acting to prevent
unapproved or unlawful entry and enforce parking regulations
• Monitoring and patrolling client site to prevent theft, violence and maintain general security at location
• Periodically examining doors, windows and gates for security or gate functionality
• Requesting emergency personnel for high-risk situations
• Interfacing with private patrol services to respond to client request for response
Qualifications
Skills:
• Ability to function as a member in a team based environment
• Proficient verbal communication skills when interacting with clients, emergency services, community
members and team members
• Proficient written communication, documentation and report writing skills
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor/appearance while interacting with clients and the general
public, including meeting uniform standards
• Strong problem solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills
• Ability to use software and applications on a phone to access and input information
• Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently
• Ability to follow strict written and verbal communications and rules
• Dedication to high quality customer service delivery
• Basic math skills
• Must be able to meet deadlines
• Must conduct all work with a high level of integrity and trust, upholding the company’s ethical and
professional standards
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
Licensing/Training:
• Current BSIS guard card. Must be maintained during the course of employment.
• Pepper Spray and/or Baton Certificate. Must be maintained during the course of employment.
• Valid CA Driver’s License and at least 3 years of driving experience
Education and Experience:
• Proven work experience in security or a similar role
• High School graduation or GED

• Sit for long periods of time (work performed in an indoor guard post will sit for majority of shift (95%)
• Stand and walk as required to interact with guests, direct traffic, put cones out and perform other duties
• Climb and ascend stairs, bend and stoop on occasion
• Hear sounds at normal speaking levels, in person and on the phone
• Speak including expressing and exchanging information, in person and on the phone
• Perform duties such as reading and preparing written documents, viewing security monitors and
information on a phone
• Strong hand/eye coordination
• Constant use of both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping items, using a phone, writing notes,
texting/ typing on a phone, and other administrative tasks
• Constant mental alertness and attention to detail while working
• Occasionally lift, carry and/or move items weighing up to forty (40) pounds
Salary : $19 - $21
