Acara Solutions has been providing our staffing services to the aerospace community for over 65 years. Our Sacramento, CA region aerospace/defense client is looking for a R&D Engineering Manager with expertise in RF technologies. This is a salaried direct position with a range of $180K - $236K, with flexibility for a senior person.
This position oversees 8-10 engineers. It requires leadership experience, aerospace and/ or defense, and RF hardware experience. The manager must know the components in an enclosed amplifier system, including expertise in designing high power components. They are not interested in candidates with wireless / telecom backgrounds - aerospace/defense experience a must.

- Lead and manage RF engineering teams across multiple R&D projects
- Develop and execute RF system architecture and design strategies
- Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and quality assurance protocols
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and project teams
- Collaborate with product management, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams
- Review and approve engineering deliverables and initiate corrective actions
- Conduct technical studies, simulations, and performance testing of RF systems
- Prepare cost estimates and support proposal development for new projects
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging RF technologies
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
BSEE (MSEE preferred)
Min 10 years of RF engineering experience, including leadership roles and the following:
- Expertise with RF simulation tools, test equipment, and design methodologies
- Enclosures and power amplifiers, including knowing how to design the high power components
- Strong understanding of regulatory standards (FCC, ITAR)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and RF design software (HFSS, ADS, CST, MATLAB)
Min 5 years of aerospace and/or defense experience.
The position requires the employee to be able to obtain a government Secret clearance after start date if one isn't currently held.
