Chief Estimator

Description

Seeking a Chief Estimator to assist our team in its continued growth and diversification of construction services. This role shall lead and evolve our Estimating Department. The Chief Estimator is responsible for coaching and mentoring the estimating team, oversight and coordinating of bid documents, labor productions, subcontractor and vendor pricing, subcontractor and vendor relationships, owner estimates, and working with the Executive team on projects and schedules and risks.

Job Responsibilities:
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Estimator position is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned Construction Executive who can provide leadership, vision, and direction across multiple aspects of construction. This hands-on role calls for somebody who can provide exceptional leadership to manage day-to-day estimating operations. A hardworking and people-focused leader, you will simultaneously manage internal and external resources to achieve company goals and deliver successful projects.

* Position reports directly to CEO and collaborates with Executive Management
* Manages, leads, and mentors growing department staff
* Establish and implement refined estimating, proposal development, and processing procedures
* Oversight, tracking, and reporting on pending company business opportunities
* Chairs weekly Bid Committee Meeting
* Assignment and management of estimating workloads amongst department staff and both internal and external contributors
* Chairs bid period coordination sessions with assigned contributors
* Primary contributor to estimates and proposal development
* Oversight of pending proposals to ensure fully compliant submissions
* Chairs Awarded Project Turn-Over Meetings
* Risk recognition and avoidance
* Develop and maintain client and vendor relationships
* Develop and maintain a historical database of quoted pricing and self-performed production efficiencies
* Primary contributor to client presentations and business development efforts

Job Qualifications
* Must have 10 years of experience in the area of construction management, including five years in a leadership or supervisory position
* A Bachelor's degree in construction or a related engineering field is required.
* Demonstrated estimating experience in both private and public sectors
* Demonstrated experience in General Contracting, Construction Management, and Design-Build estimating approaches
* Successful track record of producing accurate estimates at all levels of design, including conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction document
* Knowledge of local contractor and vendor capabilities
* Experience across multiple market sectors
* Leadership, mentoring, and team-building qualities
* Driven contributor to process improvement
* Demonstrable experience building, leading, and developing teams.
* Excellent teamwork, communication, and people skills are a must.
* Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc.), P6, On-Screen Takeoff (OST) or other digitized software, and plan and spec reading.
* Expert knowledge of estimating, value engineering, and cost-tracking systems

Required Skills / Qualifications:

* 10 years of construction management experience
