Underwriting Analyst

The Norwalk, CT office is currently seeking an Underwriting Analyst to support the Employee Benefits team.

Responsibilities:

• Work as an integral part of the client consulting team
• Analysis and interpretation of health care data, including medical, prescription drug, stop loss, dental, vision, life and disability coverages
• Assistance with budget projections and renewal analyses
• Pricing of benefit changes for health coverages utilizing experience and/or manual rating tools
• Assistance with the carrier/vendor marketing process (including preparing the Request for Proposal and compiling the analysis of the responses)
• Writing reports and memoranda to describe analyses and make recommendations to clients
• Support preparation for client meetings and associated deliverables (i.e. prepare templates and insert supporting documentation)
• Distribution of financial dashboards with commentary around trends
• Working on ad hoc analysis reports and projects

• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines while producing accurate detail-oriented work
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
• Positive and approachable, with strong interpersonal skills
• Willingness to learn and desire to grow professionally
• Proven problem-solving, analytical and negotiation skills
• Proficiency with project management
• Ability to attend in-person meetings within MA, CT, RI as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline strongly preferred
• 1-3 years’ experience of group health underwriting, actuarial or equivalent experience is preferred
• Excellent Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• State Life and Health license required within 90 days of joining
