Alera Group is hiring an Employee Benefits Intern to join their Deerfield, IL team for this summer.

We are passionate about our clients’ success in the areas of Employee Benefits, Property and Casualty Insurance, Retirement Plan Services, and Wealth Services. Overview

Our internship program provides hands‑on experience in the fast‑paced world of insurance and financial services. Interns gain exposure to one or more core areas—Employee Benefits, Property & Casualty, Wealth Management and Retirement Planning Services—based on interests and business needs.

You’ll work in person alongside industry professionals, receiving mentorship, participating in professional development sessions, and engaging with organizational leaders. Interns also join a collaborative cohort, building networks and skills while exploring potential pathways to full‑time employment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research, gather data, and assist with basic analysis
  • Prepare and organize documents, reports, presentations, and internal materials
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and job shadowing
  • Support project coordination, including task tracking and follow-ups
  • Communicate with team members to gather information and ensure smooth workflow
  • Maintain accurate records and perform data entry
  • Contribute ideas, ask questions, and take initiative on assigned tasks

Qualifications

  • Strong preference to students graduating in Spring of 2027, for post-graduation full-time hire consideration
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, or a related field
  • Interested in the insurance industry
  • Motivated to participate fully in team efforts with a collaborative spirit
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrates initiative and incorporates feedback to drive continuous improvement

Additional Information

The internship will run from early June through mid‑August, lasting approximately 10 weeks, with exact dates determined by the intern and their direct manager. Must be local to this office to apply.

The hourly rate is $25 per hour.
