What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood, Preschool Director position at Aleph Bet Childrens Center?
Aleph Bet Children’s Center, a top-rated small Chattanooga preschool, has an immediate opening for Director. BA and experience in Early Childhood Education required. Knowledge of Jewish culture and director/managerial experience preferred. Candidates should be organized, creative, self-motivated, flexible and possess good communication skills. Preschool is open 12 months of the year. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- All day-to-day operations of the preschool including the regular school year (August-May) as well as the summer camp (June-July)
- Reports directly to CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga
- Aleph Bet administration.
- Maintain proper staffing and ratios for the classrooms.
- Maintain proper licensing and compliance.
- Provide newsletters, writings and information for Aleph Bet families as well as the Jewish community through the Shofar (monthly magazine) and/or any other communication vehicle (such as email, texts, etc).
- Maintain all accounting (billing/statements) for Aleph Bet.
- Outreach to new and potential families.
- Instill proper Judaics for Aleph Bet classrooms, with guidance from teachers, shaliach (Israeli Emissary), volunteers and Jewish educators.
- Provides proper support, education and/or CPE for all Aleph Bet staff including yearly reviews.
- Creates, implements and monitors the budget for Aleph Bet.
- Is the recruiter for new students/families as well as any staffing needs.
- Hires and fires all Aleph Bet staff.
- Attend weekly Jewish Federation staff meetings and leads Aleph Bet staff meetings.
- Maintains the preschool database as necessary.
- Fundraising for Aleph Bet per the budget and/or any recommendations from the Aleph Bet committee(s).
- Attend and staff any/all direct Aleph Bet programs including special programs, Thanksgiving and Spring Fling fundraisers, Aleph Bet committee meetings, and any Aleph Bet events.
Strongly encouraged to attend community events that involve families with young children as an outreach and recruitment tool for Aleph Bet.
- With guidance of Federation CEO, makes decisions on weather closings and school/summer calendars
- Works with community resources including but not limited to Federation Shaliach (Israel Cultural Emissary), Community Rabbis, Community Jewish educators regarding Aleph Bet programs and Hebrew instruction

Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
