Duties
- Greet patients and visitors with excellent phone etiquette and a warm, professional demeanor
- Collect and verify patient information, ensuring accuracy in medical records and documentation review
- Manage appointment scheduling using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Conduct insurance verification, including Medicare and other third-party payers, to facilitate billing processes
- Assist with insurance authorization and pre-authorization procedures for procedures and care plans
- Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Maintain organized medical records, including filing electronic health records (EHR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Support front desk operations by handling multi-line phone systems, patient check-in/out, and billing inquiries
- Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate patient care appointments and follow-up procedures
- Perform data entry tasks such as CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and medical billing documentation with precision
- Ensure all intake procedures adhere to healthcare standards and office policies
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and Medicare guidelines
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to health information management and patient privacy
- Experience with insurance verification processes and medical billing procedures
- Excellent clerical skills including typing (10 key typing), filing, data entry, and Microsoft Office suite proficiency
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to enhance patient service across diverse populations
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred for seamless integration into our team environment
