Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Direct Support Professional, located in Newark, CA. In this position, you will assist residents with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and transportation to appointments, while creating a safe and supportive environment. You will also provide companionship, implement individualized care plans, assist with recreational activities, and support residents in achieving their personal goals and fostering independence.
Qualifications
- Skills in personal care, including assisting with hygiene, dressing, and mobility
- Experience with recreational activity planning and providing emotional support
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster effective relationships with residents, families, and team members
- Basic understanding of individualized care plans and goal-setting processes
- Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to various needs in a team-oriented environment
- High school diploma or GED is required; additional certifications in caregiving or relevant fields are preferred
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Prior experience in caregiving or supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is highly desirable
