AlediumHR is partnering with a well-established healthcare organization seeking a Director of Nursing – Surgical Services to lead a high-volume, multi-specialty surgical department.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands the pace and complexity of surgical services and knows how to run an efficient, high-performing operation. You'll oversee multiple perioperative areas, lead a sizable team, and drive both clinical and operational performance.

What You'll Lead
- Full operational oversight of Surgical Services, including:
- Main OR
- Outpatient Surgery
- PACU
- Pre-Op and Post-Op
- Endoscopy
- A team of approximately 80 FTEs delivering coordinated surgical care across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Six operating rooms supporting a wide range of specialties, including general surgery, orthopedics, GI, ENT, bariatrics, and more
What You'll Do
- Drive day-to-day operations across all perioperative services
- Monitor and improve key metrics such as case volume, turnover times, block utilization, and on-time starts
- Lead staffing strategy, including hiring, development, performance management, and retention
- Oversee departmental budgets and ensure financial accountability
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards
- Partner with leadership to align departmental goals with broader organizational priorities
- Implement process improvements and evidence-based practices to enhance patient care and efficiency
- Serve as the point of accountability for quality, safety, and patient experience
What You Bring
- Active RN license (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required)
- 3 years of experience in a Director-level role
- Strong background in surgical services, including PACU, Pre-Op, Post-Op, Endoscopy, and OR operations
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive accountability
- Experience managing budgets, operations, and regulatory compliance
Preferred
- Advanced degree (MSN, MHA, or MBA)
- Experience leading larger teams (60 FTEs)
- Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred
- Deeper experience in perioperative leadership (5 years at the Director level is a plus)
