Position Title: Service Technician – Part-Time

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Location: Bethesda, MD

Work Schedule: Part-Time, approximately 8 hours per week

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

Position Summary: Aldevra is currently seeking a qualified a part-time Service Technician to support ice and water dispensers and medical/research refrigeration equipment at the National Institute of Health (NIH) Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD. This position combines hands-on preventive maintenance and repair work with responsibility for coordinating routine service activities, maintaining accurate documentation, and serving as Aldevra’s primary onsite technical representative. We are looking for someone who brings a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, clear communication, and a willingness to jump in where needed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Perform preventive maintenance on ice machines, ice/water dispensers, refrigerators, and freezers.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform repairs within your qualifications.
• Follow NIH-specific maintenance, safety, access, and documentation procedures.
• Replace filters and perform required cleaning, inspections, and operational testing.
• Complete service reports, equipment records, photographs, and PM documentation.
• Track equipment deficiencies and service issues through completion.
• Communicate with NIH personnel regarding scheduling, access, equipment status, and completed work.
• Maintain accurate equipment and service-history information.
• Serve as Aldevra’s primary onsite technical representative for routine NIH service activities.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Security Requirements:

This position requires passing an extensive background check.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

This position is hands-on preventive maintenance and repair work with responsibility for coordinating routine service activities, maintaining accurate documentation, and serving as Aldevra’s primary onsite technical representative.

• Ability to walk throughout the NIH Clinical Center and travel between multiple buildings, floors, departments, and equipment locations.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb stairs, and work in confined or awkward spaces as needed.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, filters, parts, and service materials.
• Ability to perform hands-on maintenance and repair work using hand tools and service equipment.
• Ability to work around refrigeration equipment, ice machines, water, cleaning products, noise, and temperature changes.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, work orders, service procedures, safety instructions, and technical documentation.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot problems, maintain attention to detail, and make sound decisions independently.
• Ability to communicate professionally with NIH personnel and accurately document completed work and equipment conditions.

Qualifications:

• Experience servicing commercial refrigeration, ice machines, commercial appliances, or similar equipment.
• Prior work in healthcare, laboratory, institutional, or federal facilities preferred.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow detailed procedures.
• Strong documentation, organization, and customer-service skills.
• Comfortable using email, smartphones/tablets, electronic service reports, and photographs.
• Reliable transportation to Bethesda, MD.
• Ability to meet federal facility access requirements.
• EPA Section 608 certificate 
• Valid Real-ID state-issued driver's license
• Excellent verbal communication skills and telephone manner
• Excellent and accurate written communication
• Excellent attention to detail; accurate data entry
• Customer Focused and team-oriented work ethic
• Able to multi-task efficiently and accurately, focusing on quality

Pay Range: $38.00–$45.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
