General Position Summary
The TED Afternoon Toddler Assistant assists in maintaining the prepared environment, shares the responsibility for preparation of daily meals, supports the work of the Toddler Guide(s), and works collaboratively with the Guide(s) to support each student’s optimal growth and development.
JOB SCOPE
The Toddler Extended Day (TED) Afternoon Toddler Assistant is responsible for maintaining the required Minimum Standards and Guidelines for state childcare licensing, maintaining the classroom environment per AMI standards, preparing daily community meals, supporting the work of the Toddler Guide(s) in the classroom, and working collaboratively with the Guide(s) to support each child in reaching his/her full potential. This is a year-round position that supports a lead worker and works in collaboration with the morning TED Guide and Assistant team to nurture the development of the children in the classroom. This position works directly with students and parents, closely with the Director of Toddler, and occasionally with the Health Office.

Essential Functions
- Maintains the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services Minimum Standards and Guidelines, and required records for such, including completion of professional development hours and trainings.
- Works cooperatively with the Toddler Guide(s) and supports the Guides’ work in the classroom.
- Assists in the preparation and maintenance of the Prepared Environment.
- Shares responsibility for the daily cleaning and disinfecting of all areas of the classroom.
- Works with the Guide to implement the expectations for behavior in the classroom and foster each child’s social, emotional, and academic growth.
- Shares responsibility for the safety and well-being of all students.
- Cooks lunch daily and prepares foods for snacks and food preparation activities.
- Creates class snack calendar, weekly meal and snack menu, and weekly grocery list, per Guide’s preference.
- Shares the responsibility of facilitating naptime.
- Facilitates the toilet learning process in the classroom, as directed by the Guide(s).
- Works with individual and small groups of children as directed by the Guide.
- Assists with end-of-day dismissal procedures and prepares daily forms for parents.
- Takes the lead in the classroom when the Guide is absent.
- Makes, refreshes, and replenishes classroom materials and supplies.
- Helps to maintain current, accurate classroom records, including state licensing files and records, and submits daily attendance, per the Guide’s direction.
- Shares the responsibility of reporting any and all accidents/incidents at once, completing the required Toddler Incident Report, and communicating details of incident to appropriate contacts.
- Shares responsibility for execution of all emergency drills.
- Participates in an annual evaluation process, including classroom observations, self-reflection, goal setting, and performance review.
- Strives in all areas to exhibit the behaviors and expectations outlined in the Staff Handbook under Alcuin Standards of Faculty Excellence.
- Attends community and/or parent education events as outlined in the Staff Handbook.
- Other tasks, as assigned by the Head of School or the Director of Toddler.
