Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Armed School Security Officer role based in Dallas, TX. The Armed School Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a visible and professional security presence across campus, including monitoring entrances, patrolling buildings and grounds, and overseeing arrival, dismissal, and transitions throughout the school day. This role responds promptly and calmly to security concerns, emergencies, and alarms, following established safety protocols and working closely with school leadership. The officer conducts regular checks of doors, gates, and surveillance systems, helps manage visitor access and identification procedures, and documents incidents accurately and confidentially. The position also participates in safety planning, drills, and training, builds positive relationships with students, families, and staff, and models a respectful, student-centered approach to campus safety.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in school security, law enforcement, military service, or a closely related security field.
- Current licensure or certification as an armed security officer and eligibility to carry a firearm in Texas, with a strong record of safe weapons handling.
- Knowledge of campus safety practices, emergency response procedures, and incident reporting standards.
- Clear, calm, and professional verbal and written communication skills for interacting with students, families, staff, and first responders.
- Ability to de-escalate conflicts, exercise sound judgment under pressure, and maintain composure in emergencies.
- Commitment to working respectfully in a diverse school community and supporting the well-being of children and adolescents.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol campus for extended periods and respond quickly across school grounds.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or coursework in criminal justice, security management, or related fields is preferred.
- Experience in an educational setting preferred.
- Successful completion of background checks, reference checks, and any required school or state security trainings.
