Long Term Substitute - Special Education Teacher (Therapeutic Program)

This is a long term substitute teacher position. Anticipated start date March 4, 2026 POSITION DESCRIPTION: This Special Education Teacher works in Alcott’s Anchor program for students with social/emotional disabilities. He/she is responsible for ensuring that students get the academic and behavioral support needed to access content and curriculum. This individual is responsible for writing and following Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and adhering to state and federal regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Implement district learning goals and objectives, in alignment with state frameworks. Provide small-group instruction to students diagnosed with moderate to severe emotional disabilities to ensure progress in the general curriculum. Write and implement data based Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and provide timely and regular progress reports on student development. Provide needed accommodations for student learning and testing when required. Collaborate with staff to ensure IEPs are implemented with fidelity and individual student needs are being met. Establish routines and expectations within the special education program. Coordinate with other program staff, general education teachers and related service providers to ensure routines and expectations are consistent across different environments. Facilitate the development of individual student behavior plans. Support staff in implementation of behavior plans. Evaluate the effectiveness of plans and make adjustments as needed. Maintain responsive lines of communication between students, families, and staff involved in the Branch Program. Support students in a variety of settings depending on student needs. Examples include within the special education program, in the general education classroom, and in specialty classes. Supervise special education tutors/assistants in maintaining a therapeutic environment and implementing behavior plans. QUALIFICATIONS (Required): Active and valid MA DESE Moderate Disabilities PreK-8 License SEI Endorsement Orton-Gillingham (or other rules based reading) training Ability to navigate ADA, Massachusetts law, SPED law and district policies to ensure fidelity and compliance of IEPs and national and state law. QUALIFICATIONS (Preferred): Master's Degree in Education Minimum of three years professional experience working with students with emotional disabilities Excellent writing skills and proven success with FBAs and behavior intervention plans
