Your Valued Contributions:
Supports dental care delivery by preparing treatment room, patient, instruments, and materials; passing instruments and materials; performing procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act.
- Supports and assists clinical providers and professionals:
- Prepares exam rooms prior to patient appointments according to safety and infection control protocols.
- Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments.
- Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
- Takes and records medical and dental histories, and vital signs of the patient.
- Exposes diagnostic dental x-rays.
- Makes preliminary impressions for study casts and cleans removable appliances.
- Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.
- Provides post-operative instructions as prescribed by dentist.
- Instructs patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
- Records treatment information in patient records.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Provides administrative support to the dental practice
- Schedules patient appointments.
- Maintains clerical records.
- Maintains proper attendance and punctuality; stays within attendance/punctuality policy guidelines.
- Special projects as assigned.
Required Training & Experience:
- Word
- Electronic Health Records system
- Possesses a current State of Michigan driver’s license and valid automobile insurance.
- Possesses a current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) CPR certification.
