Entry Level Production

Most of our new production operators begin their employment in the Smelter "Potroom", although we may have other production positions available. All of our production positions require the use of equipment to assist with manufacturing, packaging, and shipping our products. While the exact duties may vary based on the area hired into, a production operator may be expected to handle heavy machinery such as forklifts, cranes, etc., as well as performing specialized tasks. Most importantly, a production operator must adhere to safety guidelines. Qualifications High School diploma or GED is required. AN UPDATED RESUME AND HIGH SCHOOL/GED DIPLOMA MUST BE UPLOADED TO THIS APPLICATION. If you have had a gap in employment, please note this on your resume. Must be able to perform physically demanding work activities under high temperature conditions. Candidates must successfully pass a skills aptitude, physical, drug test and background check. Must be at least 18 years of age Additional Information WORK HOURS/ENVIRONMENT: You must be willing and able to work rotating shifts and continuous schedules. Mandatory overtime may also be required. Typical work environment involves primarily indoor work with exposure to hot and cold weather and extreme non-weather related heat is frequent. This application is for the employment pool. Those accepted to the pool will be kept on file for 12 months. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Standard rate: $23.55 USD per hour You may be eligible for variable performance pay, overtime, premium pay, and additional payments per the collective bargaining agreement provisions. About the Location Our Massena facility in New York State, established in 1902, is home to the longest continuously operating smelter in the world. Located on the St. Lawrence River, Massena, NY is the center for commercial, industrial, and manufacturing success in St. Lawrence County. Massena’s caring sense of community, affordable cost of living, and extremely low-cost locally supplied energy, coupled with four public and private universities nearby, make Massena a great place to call home. And within a two hour drive (or less) are cosmopolitan and historic Montreal and Ottawa, Canada to the north, and to the south are the tall, beautiful views of Adirondacks and within it is Lake Placid The Olympic Village.
