What are the responsibilities and job description for the Calibration Technician position at Alco Manufacturing Co?
4 Day Work Week! Monday through Thursday 6am-430pm
Basic Function: Overall goal of position is to assure proper gauging is available, calibrated and on the production floor in a timely manner within company standards for safety, quality and productivity.
Essential Functions:
• Perform gauge calibration, cleaning and repairs. Document results as appropriate.
• Maintain all gauge inventory and related documentation.
• Order new gauging to meet production requirements for reliability and efficiency of use.
• Train other employees in proper use and care of gauges.
• Assemble gauge pans for production runs, break down gauge pans upon return, verifying all gauges are accounted for and are in good working order.
• Coordinate gage procurement/manufacture/revision through Quality Engineers and Engineering Department
Additional Responsibilities:
• Assist Production in the use of special gauging equipment.
• May perform Quality System auditing.
• Assist Quality Technician - Production as directed.
• Interface closely with key personnel from Production and Engineering Departments and customer Quality Department personnel on quality-related issues.
• Housekeeping: maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner.
• Perform all safety inspections to equipment daily, use proper lifting techniques.
• Follow company policies, procedures and safety rules as described in the Alco Employee Handbook
Knowledge, skills and ability:
• The ability to read and write English and perform basic math skills required.
• Ability to read and understand & interpret Blue Prints, Inspection Plans and follow instructions.
• Ability to use, interpret, calibrate all, and perform simple repairs on most precision measuring gauges.
• Ability to organize and prioritize with changing requirements; strong attention to detail and ability to work well with others.
• Understand which master gauges to use for different applications and acceptable gauge tolerances per ANSI specifications.

• Ergonomics
• Lifting policy
Education, Training and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED
• Formal Metrology or on the job training
• Successful completion of ASQC Certification Quality Technician Exam preferred.
• 1-3 years’ experience with precision measuring instruments in a similar industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements:
• Some lifting, generally under 10lbs, sometimes up to 30lbs.
• Frequent stooping, reaching to retrieve from or replace gauges into gauge drawers
• Frequent grasping or use of fingers while calibrating or repair gauges or assembling/breaking down gauge pans.
• Close visual attention required for reading inspection plans, calibrating gauges, or entering into gauge tracking software.
• Long periods of standing, walking to perform duties
