We need a Superhero to serve as the operational and strategic backbone of the People function—overseeing the systems, processes, and compliance infrastructure that enable their teams to thrive.
Our hero flourishes at both a tactical and strategic level and has a hands-on, influential leadership style. You’ll own the end-to-end administration of compensation, recruiting, benefits, compliance, and HR systems, while remaining the ambassador of company culture.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Champion Core Values & Culture: You'll champion their core values of Teamwork, Gratitude, Loyalty, Excellence, and Authenticity - while serving as the ambassador of culture in a workplace that is fun & professional, dynamic, supportive, and highly sales-driven.
- Fortifying HR Infrastructure: Building and refining essential HR systems, repeatable workflows & SOPs to support growth and an expanding geographic footprint.
- Ensure Compliance: Remain compliant with the ever-changing landscape of federal, state, and local employment laws. You managing FMLA, ADA, FLSA & FCRA compliance , including all mandatory reporting requirements and Employee Handbook updates.
- Guide and Support: Provide guidance to leaders and employees on all-things-HR and use your superpowers of influence to ensure consistent, compliant, and values-aligned people decisions & outcomes.
- Recruiting: Manage full-cycle recruiting and onboarding; Track and report on key talent metrics to drive data-informed decision-making.
- Manage Benefits: Oversee all employee benefits, including annual renewal, open enrollment, and compliance with 401(k), ERISA and ACA reporting. Because great superheroes deserve great perks.
- Performance Management: Direct all aspects of performance management; lead the annual performance review cycle; partnering with department heads to establish performance expectations, guide calibration discussions, and ensure equitable evaluations; coach and guide managers and employees on HR matters; Collaborate with the VP of People to design role structures, career paths, succession planning, and development frameworks that support internal mobility and retention.
- Payroll: You won’t process payroll, but will closely collaborate with those who do. This require a heroic knowledge of multi-state payday laws; experience in professional services and/or commission-based workforce is a huge plus!
- Offboarding/Exits: Manage employee offboarding and exits smoothly and with poise; manage post-employment activities (unemployment claims, COBRA).
Who We’re Looking For:
- HR Expertise & Knowledge: Ability to operate at both a tactical and strategic level in this very hands-on role. Here are the must-haves: A demonstrated knowledge of HR best practices and multi-state employment laws; advanced knowledge of compensation, total rewards and benefits; experience building, refining and automating HR systems, workflows and processes; full-cycle recruiting for professional roles; Experience as a one-person HR Hero is strongly desired.
- Culture Champion: A Hero who recognizes the power of positive culture, who manages HR matters with authenticity and genuine care for people, who enjoys bringing humor and fun into their work, and who is never comfortable with the status quo.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree.
- Certifications: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP preferred.
- Experience: 10 years of progressive HR experience; 5 in a leadership role.
- Location: This role hybrid with two days per week in the Austin office.
- Superpowers: Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking, and project management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to juggle multiple competing priorities.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with a “can-do” attitude; exceptional integrity, flexibility/adaptability, and eagerness to work in-person with the Austin team on a regular basis.
- Technical Chops: Advanced technical skills, experience with technology systems implementation, and proficiency in the MS Suite. Experience with Paycom is a plus.
