Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual work as the Lead Daycare staff member for the before school program (7AM-8AM) and then to provide educational support to students of elementary ages the remainder of the day (8AM-3PM). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and experience working with children, including those with special needs.
The Daycare Lead plays a key leadership role in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for students enrolled in the districts before-school care program. This position supports students' social, emotional, and academic growth while ensuring smooth daily operations of the program, and maintaining effective communication with families and school personnel.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma; preferably with Para-Educator Certification or Bachelor’s Degree with education related minor
- Must pass background checks as required by the school district and state regulations.
Essential Functions (daycare lead):
- Lead the daily operation of the day care program (before school program).
- Supervise and actively engage with children in structured and unstructured activities.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate enrichment activities, games, and learning opportunities.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment by enforcing school and program rules and safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student participation and behavior.
- Coordinate with school staff and administration to support student needs and align with school policies.
- Assist in training, mentoring, and overseeing day care associates and volunteers.
- Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and behavioral records.
- Monitor inventory and request supplies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all district, state, and licensing regulations and standards.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions as required.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
- Ability to remain patient, positive, and flexible in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Teacher or the Building Principal
Essential Functions (associate):
- Administer, score, and record such achievement and test results as the Teacher recommends for individual students.
- Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the Teacher.
- Assist the Teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
- Operate and care for equipment or instructional materials assigned by the Teacher.
- Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the Teacher.
- Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, before and after school, and field trips.
- Check student work and supervise testing and make-up work as assigned by the Teacher.
- Assists with school day routines.
- Alert the Teacher to any problems or special information about an individual student.
- Serve as a source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular Teacher.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students
- Participate in professional development activities as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Teacher or the Building Principal.
