About the Position
Albuquerque Behavioral Care is seeking a motivated, organized, and dependable Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to serve as our Clinical Director.
This is a hands-on leadership position combining direct client care with oversight of clinical operations, documentation, quality assurance, and clinical staff. We are looking for someone who brings structure to their department, communicates clearly, follows through, and maintains high standards of care and accountability.
The ideal candidate is passionate about helping people, confident leading a team, and interested in growing with a developing behavioral-health program. This is an opportunity to help shape our clinical department and make a lasting impact on our clients, staff, and community.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily clinical operations and oversee clinical staff.
- Complete client intake evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and clinical recommendations.
- Develop, review, and update individualized treatment plans based on client needs and progress.
- Facilitate Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) groups and other clinical groups.
- Provide individual therapy and one-on-one clinical services.
- Complete and review detailed, accurate, and timely clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Ensure progress notes support services provided, medical necessity, treatment goals, and client progress.
- Ensure required consents, assessments, treatment plans, safety plans, and discharge documents are completed and maintained.
- Train, mentor, and support clinical staff while holding the team accountable to professional and documentation standards.
- Provide supervision appropriate to the employee’s credentials, qualifications, and applicable requirements.
- Coordinate with the Director of Operations, case management, billing, credentialing, and ownership.
- Support crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals, discharge planning, and continuity of care.
- Help develop clinical policies, procedures, workflows, and quality-assurance processes.
- Prepare the clinical department for audits and reviews.
- Protect client confidentiality and follow applicable ethical, privacy, payer, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the team to support clients’ recovery, stability, independence, and work-readiness goals.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted New Mexico LCSW license in good standing.
- Maintain all credentials, certifications, and licenses required for assigned responsibilities.
- Clinical competency in mental-health and/or substance-use treatment.
- Ability to complete comprehensive evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge documentation.
- Ability to facilitate therapeutic groups and provide individual therapy.
- Strong understanding of clinical documentation, medical necessity, professional ethics, and confidentiality.
- Comfort navigating EHR systems and maintaining organized electronic records.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization, time management, follow-through, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lead collaboratively and hold yourself and others accountable.
- Successful completion of required background checks and employment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous clinical leadership, supervisory, or program-management experience.
- Experience facilitating IOP groups.
- Experience treating co-occurring mental-health and substance-use conditions.
- Experience with Medicaid and commercial insurance documentation requirements.
- Familiarity with New Mexico behavioral-health and payer requirements.
- Existing credentialing or participation with New Mexico insurance networks.
- Experience supervising clinicians, counselors, interns, or peer-support staff.
- Experience working with clients involved in courts, probation, parole, or community-based programs.
Newly Licensed Applicants Welcome
Experienced clinicians are encouraged to apply. We also welcome motivated newly licensed LCSWs and new graduates who already hold the required active New Mexico LCSW license and can meet the clinical responsibilities of this position.
