Description
Albion College invites applications for the Executive Director of the Carl A. Gerstacker Institute for Business and Management position. The Carl A. Gerstacker Institute for Business and Management combines the outstanding strengths of a liberal arts education with business knowledge and relevant work experience. Students participate in professional development workshops, explore careers related to business and complete hands-on learning experiences to be more competitive and prepared for life after Albion. The Institute prepares students to be leaders through intentional professional development, out-of-classroom experiences, and a prescribed curriculum to complement their major. The Institute works with approximately 100 students from majors in all disciplines. Gerstacker students learn business through internships, and focused training in networking, resume building, business etiquette, employer site visits, and more. As a result, 97% of students have a career started within six months of graduation with about 35% having job offers by the start of their senior year. The Executive Director works closely with an internal Faculty Director to set curriculum and manage advising. Additionally, the position is supported by an Advisory board that consists of faculty from across the college and alumni.
We are looking for a visionary leader to provide strategic direction and innovative programming for the Carl A. Gerstacker Institute at Albion College. This position sits at the intersection of academic administration, student mentorship, and external fundraising. The ideal candidate will cultivate and maintain crucial partnerships to ensure the success of the program and the students, work with campus partners to fundraise for critical programming associated with the program. With the Faculty Director, the Executive Director will be responsible for recruiting students (both current Albion College students and incoming students) to increase the size of the program to around 160 students. In order to maintain crucial partnerships with alums and internship leaders, the Executive Director will need to be able to travel as part of the position. The Executive Director assists with professional development programming during the Gerstacker Summer School (held during May and June). There is also the possibility of offering classes within the Gerstacker curriculum, commensurate with experience and appropriate credentials. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in related field preferred
- Minimum 4 years of related, professional work experience, 6 years preferred
- Experience working with undergraduate students in higher education preferred
- Experience working with recruiters, employers and alumni preferred
